The main shaft seal ---how to pull ?.   The seal has a small metal lip  --so you must pull
on that.

I used a bunch of paint can openers   Benjamin Moore  --advertising stuff. ---Works great.

BUT   there are a number of really tight seals out there ---if you meet one of those
  ---make sure you do a bit of hokus pokus first.----ya know the WAND.?

PS :   and Gavrik Peterson  ---about the springs on top ?  --sorry I did have some pumps
upstairs the day you phoned ---simply forgot ,---I thought I took all of them downstairs
when I cleaned up kitchen floor.
