[Vwdiesel] Vacuum Pump

Hey all-

I think my vacuum pump is crapping out.  I only have
boosted brakes sometimes--usually when I first step on
the pedal, but if I let off and step again, there is
no boosting.

Also, the heater controls are working flaky at best.

So, what options do I have?  The engine is from an '81
Rabbit.  IIRC, there are at least a couple types.  How
about one from a TDI?  I saw one for sale posted here.
