[Vwdiesel] Transmission--Reverse replacement

Is it possible to just replace the reverse gear in a
transmission?

I've got a 5-speed with a seemingly bad reverse gear,
and a couple Rabbits with 4-speeds in them.  

Could I pull the reverse off one of the 4-speeds and
put it in the 5-speed?

Would that require tons of special tools?
