[Vwdiesel] KG diesel, etc

Ron,
I've given this swap some thought, off-and-on, over the past couple
years...here's what I know about it (certainly I'm no expert):
I don't know of any Audi-VW bellhousing adapters, though one would be easy enough to make. The Volvo diesel six bolts up to the bellhousing, but is too long to fit under the hood. I know guys have put gasser Audi turbo fives into the cars, so the Audi TD five would certainly fit too (weight distribution would be affected, but would still probably be very good as the 924's front wheels sit very far forward, and the clutch and tranny are still at the back). Options for changing the gear ratios...some later 944s and 968s have more diesel-suited gearboxes, but might be expensive to find and install. I read that the 924 transmission is just Audi 4000 tranny guts in a different case (or it might even be partly the same case, just mounted differently), and that you can swap 4000 or Quantum diesel gears into it pretty cheaply.
That's what I know...if you do it, let us know how it goes--I hope to attempt it myself one of these days...
