My favourite three-letter-acronym is TLA, which stands for Three Letter 
Acronym.
Way back in the early 1970's Univac had a test device for installing their 
supercomputers - it plugged into where all the input & output devices would 
be connected.  It was called an Electronic Impulse Emulator for 
Input/Output, or EIEIO.
'nuff said.
