I don't know what happened to cause your turbo to fail but I have an idea. Were you running a petroleum oil or a full synthetic? I am told that any exhaust run turbochargers get very hot & after driving, you should let the engine run at least a minute or probably more if you are running petroleum oil. If you don't, the oil will coke up in the bearings due to the extreme head causing premature failure. I won't run petroleum oil in any of my cars unless the car is leaking or using oil excessively. I am a great believer in using Amsoil synthetic oil products. I am also an Amsoil dealer. If you are interested in using Amsoil products including a vast number of synthetic oils. Go to www.amsoil.com & if you don't have an Amsoil dealer available you can shop on line & use my "Z0" number which in #2185. Amsoil synthetic oil, & other synthetics, can stand much higher temperatures than petroleum oil before braking down & coking up 200 or more degrees F. Even with synthetics, I would let the turbo cool down before turning the engine off.
