  I've always ende up with the blue and white boxed stuff or 
Metal Leve (sp).  Can't remember what the blue and white ones 
are.  Both always look beautiful.  Had a set of Clevite I think, 
recently and they looked great too.  Don't think it really matters 
much.  
  If the pricing you get is way out of hand I believe both main and 
rod bearings are same as Rabbit (1.6) so you can get two sets and 
have extras.  Last time I checked the price was about the same or 
cheaper that way.  I know the rod beaings are identical.  
  The only reason you'd need undersize bearings is if the crank's 
been turned (groung) or if you'll need to.  You won't know that 
until you look at it.  They're usually fine unless abused.
