[Vwdiesel] Vegetable Oil Additive

It won't hurt anything to put that little of veggie
oil in the tank, and it should mix in just fine.
I've heard people say that it could/will separate, but
I don't think that is true at all. Last summer, when
I started experimenting with mixing in veggie oil, I
put equal parts in a 2-liter pop bottle, shook it up,
and let it sit for a month. No evidence of separation
was ever observed.
I also have never noticed any difference in how the
engine runs as a full tank of 50/50 is burned, which
would indicate that it had separated and that it was
going from burning full diesel to full veggie. A car
moves around (and so the tank's contents slosh) enough
that it would keep it well mixed anyway.
With smaller percentages of biodiesel, I wouldn't
worry about hoses at all. The hoses could be replaced
with viton if you are running higher percentages, and
if the pump eventually starts leaking you can have it
resealed. Its not like it is going to just be an all
of a sudden massive leak.
I think that most commercially-prepared biodiesel has
the methanol removed, though I am not sure if it still
attacks rubber as much or not.
Do be prepared to change your fuel filter one or two
times after starting to use biodiesel. It will clean
out your fuel tank very nicely.
