[Vwdiesel] Vegetable Oil Additive

The last info I read about running straight unheated veg oil stated the
maximum safe amount to use was 10%. Any more, you varnish up the
injection system for certain, no exceptions. When chunks of the varnish
start to break off, it gets more funner.
If this is on an old one that you don't care about, that's fine, but I
would not run unheated veg oil in my daily driver.
Milt, I think saying that veg oil would be good for the engine is a bit
of a misnomer. The VE system is built to run diesel fuel, or stuff that
very closely resembles diesel fuel. Anything else that you use that
has a potential for harm does not fall under the category of being good
for the motor. If you intend on using veg oil to improve lubricity,
don't. If you have a source of free veg oil, consider making biodiesel.
That is safe.
For the most part, the methanol is removed from the Bio-d, so I would
worry less about the methanol that may or may not be present, and that
MAY harm your seals eventually, and worry more about running unheated
veg oil that is KNOWN to harm VE injection systems.
Make sense?
