  Sounds like you've probably blown the head gasket.  Water 
coming out the reservoir would be the biggest indicator.  Other 
than that it could be timing or a slipped tooth on the timing belt.
  I'm sure someone's saved a posting of how to do it in a nutshell.  
If not then e-mail me and I'll try and type one up for you before I 
head out early for the weekend.
  Yes, you can check how many notches before you pull the head 
however you have no guarantee the correct one is on it now!  I've 
also been bitten by one notch hiding under the oil return port.  :-P
It's roughly above #3 injector.
