[Vwdiesel] exhaust sound

Ray,

That will work just fine. That way you get the correct size to the mounting
flange. The individual that made mine used the Down pipe from a 94 TD Jetta
as a template. I bought it off Ebay. It worked pretty well and he only had
to do a minor tweet for me to fit it under the car. Don't bother putting a
flex pipe in the down pipe. Have your muffler shop put a ball joint on the
down pipe and then when you hook up the rest of the exhaust start at that
ball joint with a flex pipe and go back from there. That way if you ever
need to replace the flex pipe you don't have to touch the down pipe. Also
you can use the existing mounting bracket to mount the down pipe. I have
pictures if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about. Hopefully I can find
them. LOL
Nick

Hello nick and fellow vw enthusiasts, we may have discussed this before and
i apologize. as we speak, I am noodiling through, up grading my 91 jetta td
exhaust. making the same 2 1/2" down pipe you mention. I felt that
i would order a new gasket for the existing down pipe to use as a template
for the flange on
the fabricated pipe. this is a daily driver and so this way i could make the

pipe, install it and
drive down to my muffler guy without any down time.that is of course if i
can get the old down pipe housing bolts out. Just so i don't have to
reinvent the wheel again is there a better progression or approach to this
task. thanks, ray
