[Vwdiesel] Help with ID of an engine

Hi Mike;
	The CR code diesel engine is an early 1.6. I believe it will have 11
mm non-stretch head bolts rather than the 12mm stretch bolts. It was used
from 03/81 to 07/82 with crosswise mounting in Rabbit cars, Jetta, and
Rabbit pickup. It had front to rear mounting in the Audi 4000 and Dasher.
The difference in the crosswise to front to rear mounting is not internal
but to change positioning you need to change Pan, oil pickup, oil filter
mount, engine mounts, alternator mounts, exhaust manifold, clutch assembly
and if you are changing to front to rear from crosswise you need to install
a pilot bearing. I may have missed something and be aware that most of the
things you need to change can come from an appropriate gas engine.
