I'd suggest reverting to an IDI A2,

It will survive an EMP, and like the cockroaches will still run after a
nuclear holocaust.

  I've actually thought of things like that.  I suppose if you need that 
extra 
minute or two while the free electrons are all about, before the radiation 
hits...
  Kinda kills the story that pops up from time to time about the police 
developing devices to stop a car remotely.  Kinda hard to kill a mechanically 

injected diesel that only needs a dab of electricity to hold open the stop 
solenoid.  That can be over-ridden by simply pulling the plunger off, if you 
anticipate the Sci-Fi police force hitting your VW diesel with an EMP device!
