[Vwdiesel] fuel leaks

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, because I'm
having a hard time envisioning exactly what you are
describing as far as routing the fuel lines goes (are
you working on a pickup?) but anyway...
I wanted to run new fuel lines for my Diesel Cabriolet
from the fuel tank to the steel lines at the back. On
the Cabriolet, the fuel exits at the top of the tank,
runs to the front of the tank, and down to the steel
lines. (Before, it ran to a pressure fuel pump then
to the steel lines.)
To run the new line, I cut about a three inch section
off of a ball point pen. I used it to attach the old
rubber line to the new rubber line. It was a tight
fit, which is what I was looking for because it meant
it wouldn't pull out easily.
I then simply pulled the old line down until the new
line came through.
Worked great.
As for the rusted end of the steel line, could you
just shove the rubber further on the end of the line
so as to cover the rusted section? As I understood
it, the rusted part was at the end?
