> I like the idea of a Mustang diesel but a Ford Powerstroke diesel might be
to heavy. I would try to find out the weight & the dimensions of the
powerstroke now to see of it would fit. If it weighed to much, it might
throw the suspension & handling off. Now is the time to do the research to
find out what will work. A local Hudson owner gave me a Packard V-8 engine &
Ultramatic transmission (condition unknown)that came out of a 1955 Hudson
Hornet because he thought it would fit in his 1955 Hudson Wasp & found it
didn't. Its for sale cheap if anyone is interested. For those of you who
don't know, Hudson & Nash merged in 1954 to form American Motors. In 1955,
Hudsons became restyled Nashes. Since AMC lacked a V-8 of their own, they
bought Packard V-8 engines.Moral. Before you do an engine swap, do your
homework. A Ford Powerstroke diesel would make an interesting swap if it
fits & isn't overweight.
