[Vwdiesel] was starting and now a bomb

Paul unless you block off the exhaust you will see no gain/ difference in
pressure between a good cylinder and a duffer. Blocking exhaust would mean
pressurising on the exhaust stroke creating a 1600 cc footpump... This I'm
sure could increase over many strokes but utimately it would need to rise
to 200psi for a bad ring and 400psi or more for a perfect cylinder.
Wouldn't like to be standing next to you when the exhaust gave up holding
that quantity of air at that pressure...

It'll be like those guys who shoot cars into the air with an air cannon.

Do as I suggested before and check for 'priming' fuel starvation. ...Even a
bad injector would let you start the car and then run lumpy/smokey. But to
have 4 'fail' I dunno...But you say it runswell when it starts didn't you?
Good luck
Mark
