  Simple, loosen the clutch cable adjustment at the support near the 
tranny.  As a clutch disk wears, the pedal goes up.  Either the clutch 
is fairly worn or someone simply adjusted it way out of whack or 
somewhat out of whack and it wore a little.
  I've had to run the Rabbit and Jetta pedals much higher than I like 
them simply to get a rolling release in the mornings.  Seriously, either 
one will sit on a fair hill, clutch in, most mornings unless I keep the 
release point much higher than I like.  Still happens occasionally on a 
light hill.  :-P
