Andrew
By top of its travel do you mean near at rest position?
If so that is the final resting place for all clutches.:o)
Yours could be over adjusted which will wear it out.

My driving stile dictatesI have biting point in the middle ( although I'm
not tall I like my seat back and legs straight) so having it under adjusted
so it disingages only at carpet level is uncomfortable. Seat heights vary
from style to style so a higher seat can improve foot position.

All the Quantae I have have had the lock nut adjusted cables. The only self
adjusting one I'm aware of (gasser talk now) is for the 5 gangers 2 litre
and upwards. This is actually hydraulic. It came in in 1985 2 years after
the early 1.9 5 ganger was discontinued.

Till then the pedal was sooo harrrd to depress that it developed the buttuck
on one side. (Over here wolf whistles from the ladies when passing from
right to left; but silence the other way)!
Some actuators leaked others reliable...Hayden reverted from hydraulic in
his van 'cause of this.
Mid you I've always preferred the feel of a stiff one :) Some Vauxhalls I've
driven with a hydraulic clutch had no resistance and was as tactile as a
wet paper bag ... IMO...

This is a nice Seattle vehicle [not mine obviously] :o)
