Probably as much as the previous Rabbit differed from the Golf or enough to
satisfy USA EPA/DOT regulations plus maybe a little badge engineering. If VW
wants to sell lots of cars here, they have to advertise the diesel MPG
advantage & make a 50 state diesel. They should also bring in the Polo &
Lupo. VW will loose lots of sales if they are asleap at the switch this
time. The first major world auto manufacturer to make & market a low priced
50 state fuel efficient diesel will experience a sales demand that will make
the demand Toyota experienced with the Prius pale in comparison. $5 a gallon
fuel is on the horizon in the USA. Auto manufacturers that take advantage of
this will profit, those that don't will wonder where their sales went.
