A guy at work told me about a TD Jetta he once had.

They had, or nearly had, a fire in the fuse box. 
Turned out it was filled with antifreeze!

What had happened was the tank had a crack, and the
coolant followed the wires from the level sensor and
dripped into the fuse box!

Ruined the whole thing.  Interesting story, I've heard
it several times...
