Well my 96 1.9 TD Jetta with the AAZ engine is sitting in the driveway and
it looks like I will be fixing this yet again.

No huge hurry as I've just aquired a 2005 Jetta TDI over the weekend.

VW and the local dealership just might shudder at the idea that I have a car
under warranty.

Does anyone know the EXACT procedure to have this absurd crank/kewway on the
AAZ motor dealt with?

According to the local dealer, VW actually sold a 'kit' (after the
warranties were expired of course) but then they stopped selling this kit.
I'm assuming that the very fact that they sold it raised an alarm in their
own legal departments.. "hey wait a minute? ...if we are selling something
that addresses our own design flaws after the fact...doesn't it sorta imply
that we sorta should be responsible to fix this anyway?...cuz what if those
drivers start eating more protein? - they'll come up with all these weird
ideas...ww...ee...wwwwwwwwweee don't like weird ideas here at
volkswagon...all our ideas...are clearly printed in a a a a our
custooo-m-m-m-er service...manual..

Camera fades back to show the vw customer service rep in his cubicle. He has
a white shirt, a tie and casual slacks. His hair is styish and short and the
frames of his glasses appear to match the colour of his Birkenstocks. On his
desk in clear cafeteria plastic is a half eaten salad composed mainly of
alphalpha. Next to this sits a photograph of himself holding flowers and
wearing a large flowing garment. Behind him in the photo is a large
passenger jet that appears to be taking off.
He continues to mumble to himself as the shot widens to capture the room and
displays more people just like him. Suddenly his head explodes and his
brains are sprayed across the room hitting his coworkers. They fail to skip
a beat as a large orange light affixed to the ceiling begins flashing in the
centre of the room. A hidden door on the wall slides open and two humanoids
in white decomtamination gear enter and clean his cubicle. What appears to
be a supervisor enters the frame from the left and behind him is a new
employee that occupies the vacant seat.
