[Vwdiesel] Kubota & Murray lawn tractors.

I have a 1994 Murray 42" riding lawn tractor which I think is nearing the end of its life so I expect to go shopping for a new lawn tractor tomorrow. It will have to be less than $1,500 US. New Kubota lawn tractors are over $4,000 & I don't think those are diesels. 
Before I moved from LA to rural Nevada City, CA. I heard of a Tony Campana who did hotrod engine swaps in the '50s & diesel engines into motorhomes in the '70s had installed a 15 HP Kubota tractor diesel which he turbocharged in a Mazda RX-100 rotary coupe in a quest to get 100 MPG or more. I never met him or saw the car but heard he was able to get 102 MPG at 50 MPH. I heard it had the preformance of an early '50s 25 HP VW.
