Of course you can't. who could say for sure? ;-)
But, just to add some fuel to the fire:
Earlier this year, here in my area of Florida,
when the ultra-low sulfur fuel began to be sold widely,
the "warning" labels on the pumps contained a message
similar to that found on the EPA website; basically,
that use of the fuel in "some" older engines could cause problems.
The labels that appear on the pumps now report that
the fuel is recommended "for use in all diesel engines."
Same pumps..and, same fuel, I suppose. Go figure.
All I can say is, I have an "older" engine, for sure,
and, coincidentally perhaps, one waterfall of an IP leak.
I'll never neglect to use some sort of fuel additive again, though.
