It's a marketeer's world. (sp. intentional)

My experience: YMMV
Do not use 50% for short trip local driving, It seems to coke up the injectors.
If so, a full tank of dino and an hour or 2 road trip seems to clean it out.

I had to change goldie's head gasket a year ago, and there were NO hard
carbon deposits in the engine. Just soft fluffy carbon that wiped off with a
rag. The engine looked unusually clean inside, more so that some dino-only
engines I have opened.

I notice she smells best at idle, gets a bit burnt smell at full load.
(I've fixed the hole in the trunk)
I think your observations are right on.

I make a frequent trip to my camp, about 80 miles, hour and a half, and
where I can, stay just on the high side of the speed limit. She just sings,
and when we get there, she's idling smoother than when we left.

My 1.9 (94) TD starts instantly runs very smooth, doesn't smoke, smells
nice, and, if anything, runs better on the mix than dino...And the mix
doesn't make my pump leak like ULSD !

Goldie smokes just detectably after a COLD start, disapears in a few minutes.
Only time I can get her to smoke on the road, is to wind her up for max
boost, when she reams the carbon out of the turbo and exhaust pipe in one
gigantic bloom.

(I really dislike tailgaters)
