[Vwdiesel] Gauging Interest-Squareback talk

I pondered similar issues while talking about a diesel
Karmann Ghia a few months ago. (That was after I
assumed the engine wouldn't fit in the squareback
because I didn't consider the things you are.)

Anyway, I don't think that in the grand scheme of
things, 50 lbs is that much. 50 lbs can so very
easily be added or reduced to the total loaded weight
of a car simply by cleaning out a trunk (depending on
your trunk...) that I really can't imagine it would
make a big enough difference to worry a lot about.
Using that logic, I could drastically change my car's
driving characteristics simply by putting my tool bags
and jack in the trunk. It probably technically does
change, but really I doubt the difference is of any
major importance unless I am driving an autocross car.

Very very few cars have a 50/50 distribution anyway.

As long as you realized that it isn't really a sports
car and don't go around curvy roads too fast, I
wouldn't lose much sleep over it.

And, there were camber compensators made for the old
air-cooled VWs, so you could add that to help if you
are worried.

Or you could drape a sandbag over the spare tire in
the front trunk.
