My '80 audi 5000s has had the dash lights out since I purchased the
vehicle. All of the exterior lights work properly, but at night I can't see
anything inside the cabin. The only lights that do work are a small light
behind the toggle switch for the drivers window, and the overhead cabin
lights. Fuses seem to be in good condition.
I'd like to figure out if this is generally a problem caused by a bad
switch, or if all of the lights could be blown out, or if it's a series
problem, and one bad bulb would cause all of them to go out. What is the
best way to access these bulbs behind the dash?
On a seperate note, the odometer and tripometer both operate somewhat
erratically. The tripometer seems to work if reset, for anywhere from 9-40
miles, then quits functioning. The odometer seems to work if the tripometer
works, but I'm not sure if either one is accurate even when it turns. I'm
assuming that this is a problem with the gears in the meter. Does anyone
have experience R&R'ing these?
