[Vwdiesel] Piston Protrusion Variation Limits

I am currently building a 1.6TD for a friend's 84 Quantum Waggin'.  I 
installed the pistons and measured the protrusion.  They protrude progressively more 
toward #4.  #1 measures .023" and #4 measures .029.  We will be going with a 1 
notch gasket, but is the variance like that normal and acceptable?  The spec 
for the 1 notch is .026-.031 and only #3 and #4 ar within that spec the others 
protrude less.
