[Vwdiesel] Metal brake line removal

Jeff,
I guess you are using a QUALITY flare wrench, and not a cheap Chinese one?
Invest in a Craftsman, Snap-On, or Mac tool, and you'll have much better
luck.
That said, remember, too, that you should use TWO flare wrenches. One on
the each side of the union, i.e. the flex hose and the brake line.
If you have already twisted the brake line, you have probably kinked it, and
it will surely develop a leak. You may already be into needing new line.
Replacing a line is simple, just buy a short piece at the autoparts store,
bend it appropriately (around a dowel or bolt SLOWLY) and then cut off a
piece of the pipe up from the bend where the pipe is straight. Now cut off
the original brake line in a matching location, deburr the end of both
pipes, and then join with a brass double union.
Brake lines often rust together, and so what you are experiencing is
routine. It also routine to be incredibly frustrated by not being able to
separate a stupid, little nut!
Good luck,
Bill Longyard
