I accidentally broke off the same one on my 1.5 Rabbit engine that is in a
DIY power plant now. I arc welded it back on myself using DC current and
the flux coated aluminum arc welding rod with the engine completely together
quite successfully. Used a Dremel grinder to prep and clean the area to
weld first. Very important to clean to fresh metal when trying to weld
aluminum! I chased the threads with a proper sized tap afterwards but that
made the injector fit a little on the non-snug side. From then on I
recognize the design weakness this is and use penetrating oil and an
electric impact gun to remove stubborn injectors on engines I haven`t had
them off before and a torque wrench to reinstall them with some copper coat
anti sieze on the threads.
