Last night I finally found time to finish cleaning the
head and block surface for new head gasket and putting
the head back on my project.
I used an old piece of emery cloth to clean the top
surface of the block that has gotten some surface rust
of the last year the head has been off. Car is dry in
my garage, but still get some.

Anyway, I used the same piece of used emery on the
head to clean away what a razor blade would not get, I
say it was about 300 grit paper.

My question....
The sanding did leave some minor scoring in the head
surface, is this anything to be concerned about. I
could see if but not feel it with my finger nail so I
should be fine. I was only lightly sanding to get the
head perfectly clean to accept the new head gasket.
At 11pm as I lowered the head and turbo down into
position I soon realized I needed to take the cam
sproket off because of the timing belt back cover,
daa. So, I quit for the evening.
