[Vwdiesel] 1.6L A1 Jetta head rebuild and other misc thoughts....

Fellow Diesel Fans,

This all started when my injector pump on the 1.6 started leaking a couple of months ago. I just swapped the pump from the 1.5 Rabbit. It's on hold till I get the parts donor, a 1.6 5-speed(the Rabbit is a 4-speed).

Anyhow, "while I was in there".................
You know how that goes.....

I decided to do the front engine mount. I also had the Rabbit head in being rebuilt. So, why not use the 1.5 head, do a new water pump, a new clutch, rebuild the vac pump, replace all the hoses......well, you get the picture.

Anyhow, the 1.5 head from a 1979 Rabbit does NOT bolt directly to the 1.6. For starters, the 1.6 head bolts don't fit through the holes in the 1.5 head. Also, the washers for the head bolts are too big. After going through all of that, the valves have no clearance, so that is going to be first on the list tomorrow, once the rest is put together.
