One website some of you might want to check out is www.40mpg.org . This is a group pushing to allow the kinds of high mileage cars we want. At the LA Auto show I bugged as many of the reps as I could about diesel availability. Are you doing that when you go to a new car show? We need to write our congressmen & bug them to allow high MPG cars to be sold here even if they don't meet our USA EPA/DOT regulations. We need to write letters to the editor at our local newspapers. With the high price of gas I think many people would be outraged if they knew our laws & regulations are preventing us from getting fuel efficient cars. Don't believe Detroit's lie, that they can't build good fuel efficient cars when they already do in Europe. Chrysler puts diesels in cars they make here & export to Europe but won't sell them here.
If GM, Ford, & Chrysler ran some adds in our media saying they would like to sell fuel efficient cars in the USA like they do in Europe but our laws & regulations prevent this, so please write your legislator to have the law changed. If they did,how long do you think it would take to get the laws changed? Inability to get fuel efficient cars here is a political thing. Big Oil wants to keep the status quo. Remember, "we have the best government money can buy".
