One of these days you WILL make one,. . . . after you experience a runaway.
When you get enough oil getting by, there will be enough to sustain
accelleration, and even with your foot off the accelerator, it will continue
to accelerate, accompanied by the most satisfying smokescreen behind, you
could ever wish for. You are burning crankcase oil.
RESIST THE URGE TO THROW THE CLUTCH IN, instead, get off the accelerator and
on to the brake, and bring her down until the runaway stops.
My Goldie's first engine had an eroded piston, and perhaps a broken ring,
and would go in to runaway between 50 and 60 mph. What a way to get rid of
tail gattors (sic).
I did splice in a one gallon jug to collect the oil in to the breather line,
and when the oil pressure buzzer went off, I would stopand empty the jug
back in to the engine.
Got tired of that, and found the beautiful A1 1.6TD engine in the weeds for
$250, and have now driven it over 100,000m and still perfect.
