This is my first post, so please excuse me if I've missed a FAQ somewhere
that may answer my questions. I'm delighted to have purchased my
brother-in-law's '86 Jetta TD a few years back and have enjoyed maintaining
and "improving" it. It's logged over 450,000Km in its life, (100,000Km with
me), including a trip we took to Mexico and back in '05 (13,333Km). I've
often wished for the original owner's manual, most often when an idiot light
is doing something I can't interpret. Right now, what it's doing is the red
light in the coolant temperature area of the instrument package is
continually blinking at a fast rate. I've checked coolant levels and see no
obvious leaks, but wonder about the electric rad fan - is that what this
blinking light is about? So, I'm asking for help with that specific
question, but beyond the immediate need, can anyone point me to a physical
or digitized version of my vehicle's owner manual? If not the whole deal,
then perhaps someone who's got one could send me a scan of the page(s) which
describe the function of the instrument panel lights.

 

Finally, before I knew better, I replaced the injectors in my TD 2 years ago
with rebuilt Bosch injectors purchased over the 'net, not realizing (or
being told by the vendor) that the NA in the part number likely meant
"normally aspirated" and that there was a difference - 135bar vs. 155bar.
So, now that I know, I can't seem to find TD injectors online.  One source
lists them, but notes "this item is out of stock". What are the consequences
of using the NA part in my TD? Has anyone found 155bar injectors for the
1.6TD? Can my present injectors be rebuilt to the 155bar spec?
