When my dad was in the Coast Guard the USS Balsam was based out of NAS
Adak. The only fuel available was jet fuel. Every time they fueled
they would dump a 55 gal. barrel of engine oil in otherwise the
injectors would seize. The other problem was that jet fuel and salt
water is a good bacteria growing solution. They would get big mats of
gunk that would break loose in rough seas and shut down an engine. The
last time I ran Jet A in the 'burb the mix was 1 qt two stroke oil to 10
gal of fuel. Still a little hot on the oil side, but the truck really
liked it. Had the cruise set and actually noticed an improvement as the
Jet A and two stroke oil started thru. With the turbo'd engines I am
not planning on running straight Jet until I have an egt gage.
