Sandy,
Nice write-up. Similar to what I do, including the Simple Green. I
don't use a pump.
Typically, I wash things out several times, over the course of a weekend.
Between "wash cycles". I'll run errands, about 20 mi each, which gives me
a wash cycle.
To clear out the engine / heater lines, etc. to get a better wash, use
the exhaust of a shopvac, as it won't overpressure anything. I used a
leaf blower once as well.
The only worse job is getting "stop leak" out of a heater core!
Finally, I am convinced that the rubber oil gasket is a designed
failure. In VW, Dodge and others. Just waiting to fail. I've
replaced more head gaskets for that reason than for any other!
