Remove the stop solenoid, or remove the return line hose banjo from the
top of the fuel injection pump. DO NOT LOSE THE COPPER WASHERS from the
hose banjo. They get away very easily.

Fill pump with fuel:

You need a clean plastic pop bottle or old disposable water bottle with
the label removed and CLEARLY RELABELLED as something to not drink. No
need to go to buy a container. A short length of hose gets fuel out of
the fuel tank... via siphoning. A small funnel- cut an old cheapie
inline fuel filter in half- you get two tiny funnels that just happen
to have a hose barb on the end. You can heat clear windshield washer
tubing to get it to fit over the large hose barb to give you a funnel
with a tiny end that will fit right in the stop solenoid hole or return
line banjo fitting.

No specialized tools whatsoever so far.

An alarming quote:
 > hole? I poured the fuel from the old filter into the new one, but it
 > definitely wasn't full. I'll definitely have to get a small container

You poured the water, dirt, and assorted crap out of the old fuel filter
into the new one?

Why may I ask?

Idea is to put CLEAN fuel into this stuff, it's a fuel FILTER.
The old fuel filter would not be a source of clean fuel. The idea is
that it stops the dirt, rust, dead bugs, water, and sediment in the
filter media. Dump out the contents of this filter, and you have fuel
containing dirt, bugs, etc.... that are now on the clean side of the
fuel filter. great.

If you brought this over to my place, the filter would go in the
garbage, and I would start over... unless you filtered the fuel coming
out of the old filter through filter paper? yes?
