How about a hole punch made for leather or cork that is the size of the
shouldered stud. Might be better than the small stud.

I have some of those, but they won't fit around the little flange at the
bottom of the stud. I still plan to go find a replacement stud that doesn't
have that little flange, but never seem to get around to it.
