The 5 cyl Audi is just another cylinder on a regular VW 1.6 NA or TD, and the 2.4 Volvo was just two more of the same. However, when the engine scaled up for length, the head sealing issues (which even 1.5s had until they went to 11mm bolts) became a real problem. What took GM down with the 5.7 was about the same thing, and their guys solve the problem with a set of studs. I would be VERY tempted to get ARP cyl head studs for gassers and put them into a 2.4 to try to solve the problem (also, using the latest version of 2.4 is a good idea).
