[Vwdiesel] "new" car suggestions

Hi
I don't have much dealing with CATs; but from what I can gather they are
somewhat restrictive. Whilst my exprience is relatively limited diesel
wise... Ie I only drive 1.6TD Quantae; but there is a Citroen in the family
that runs A lucas CAV setup that IIRC runs on 118bar and gets near 90mpg
[imp] on a run.
I have 2 identical 1.6TD (4 actually but only 2 I drive}:-) They are set up
identically timing wise. The main differences being the one has the 2" ID
exhaust from a 5 cylinder gasser from downpipe back and with the usual
central muffler replaced with a straight pipe back to the rear muffler. This
one gets 60mpg on a run. The other one gets 45mpg best and has the standard
double muffler and is about 1 1/2" ID. The less economic vehicle is
definiitely a 'better' engine. both were improved by using a homemade
lightly oiled fine weave cotton airfilter. Both improved from PO ownership
by accurate timing of cam to crank using feeler gauges. Economic engine
burns a little oil 150000 miles .The younger engine 110000 miles and
serviced by rich farmer...
