[Vwdiesel] Burned out glow plugs

  I'd suspect you'd be LESS likely to blow a plug with jumping 
it from another VW or Porsche.  They run low enough voltage 
that many shops will claim they have bad regulators when 
checking them.  They're used to seeing domestic vehicles 
putting out near 15V instead of these things, often in the 
mid 13 to low 14 V range.  Run that through some jumper 
cables, juice going into a low battery and then usually a 
heater fan or such going and you're getting closer to 
correct voltage.  :-)
