I had figured I should be able to get the bearings for 4 or 5 bucks a
piece too, but so far I found anywhere from 12 to 20 dollar prices,
there's no auto-electric supplier that I know of in town, and few old
style parts houses anymore.

Huh, good point, I guess it would be nice to be able to get a new shell,
doesn't seem like they could cost too much, if you could find a source
for them - guess they must start melting down if that bearing starts
running too hot.

Could be, I couldn't get a clear view of the connection for the W
terminal even with the rectifier assembly free of the housing - would
have had to do some unsoldering to get to see it.
