Hi Brian. Sorry I missed ya. I rolled in about 4pm at Pacific Beach. Thanks to Ray I was able to get the banjo line and continue to the ocean. Great luck getting a replacement part on the 4th of July! Fortunately when the line sprang its leak and I was able to get off freeway and park near a bus line by SeaTac. Ray met up with me in morning; I went back and installed the part. The metal line actually broke off while I was removing it. Those rubber holders used on the lines are apparently very important. No other troubles until I tried driving on beach sand after leaving Loren's place and got stuck! That one easier to fix with just a shovel required.

Hi Milton;
Rudy says the line you need is in an N/A set. If you can make it to
Pacific beach today ( July 4th ) I will have a set with me. I plan to arrive
about 1 pm.

Well doesn't look promising for my July 4th meeting at Loren's Pacific Beach
get together. Seems the 2nd from flywheel end metal line from the injection
pump (85 Jetta TD engine) has sprung a pinhole leak where it turns to go
into the injector. I saw a emergency replacement flexible line in Parts
Place catalog; I laughed when I saw that item at the time! But not laughing
now. I didn't expect a metal line to develop a pinhole leak. There wasn't
any metal to metal tube rubbing. Biut the injector lines are missing the
rubber separators, so maybe some vibration created a stress point. Anyone
experience this kind of problem? Unfortunately 4th of July is not good day
to find parts. Do you think I could remove and cut the line and splice in a
piece of hose with hose clamps? Its high pressure in those lines. Anyone do
this? Also, anyone know of some parts place around Seattle that might have
the Banjo? Milton.

Hey all-
I just got a flier for a tool sale that is coming to
Manhattan.
They advertised a factory reconditioned Campbell
Hausfeld 70 Amp Flux Wire welder for 149.99.
Just wondering if you think this is a decent deal and
if it would suffice for welding some panels into my
bus-I guess basic bodywork.
If not, any recommendations on what to look for?
Thanks,
David

in a word, junk. flux core leaves to porus a weld for good work, imo,
makes it harder to learn. if you can ad a gas bottle to it, it may not
be a bad deal but in my experience, you really do get what you pay for
when talking welding equipment.

I was just having this debate. the body men present felt gas assist was the way to go though differed in opinion on which
gas was best. some said argon and the others i think said carbon though not sure about the other gases used.
I also would like to know as i need to fill some mirror bolt holes on a van prior to paint. Many older body men
felt an oxy/acetylene patch was preferred.
