Mark,
I would suggest NOT using butane as a refrigerant in your a/c system! Do you really want a flammable gas being pumped into the cabin of your vehicle with you? All it would take is a small leak under the dash to turn your car (and you) into a crispy critter.
Convert to R134a instead.
By the way for those of use who live in California... I was reading that there is movement afoot to ban the sale of those little R134a refill cans. The claim is that those of us who do-it ourselves are letting too much R134a escape contributing to global warming. I suspect the real motive is to line the pockets of the automotive A/C service shop lobby.
