If you prime the Pump via the Fuel Return line you don't need to bleed the
Injector Lines, it'll purge the air and start in a few cranks by itself.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Seeking tips when installing a remanufactured
injectionpump
I am installing a purchased remanufactured injection pump on a 1982 diesel
rabbit car. With previous help from the group, I have experience and am
comfortable with timing. The "new" one looks like the old one and bolts in
place. Is there anything special to adjust other than the timing? If I
prime by vacuum to the return line and then crank engine to bleed air out of
injection lines prior to connecting to injectors will that minimize priming
problems? Other tips appreciated.
Thanks - Doug
