[Vwdiesel] Temp guage

The temp sensors (gauge/idiot/glow plug) as well as the oil
pressure sensor are all on the back "end" of the head. Generally
the one I've seen on the side or front in a Rabbit arrangement (still
the side of the engine) is a high temp cut out for A/C. I've been
having the same thing on Dad's pu and just haven't taken time
to diagnose it. When it's really hot out the gauge seems to
work. Either the sensor is bad or a connection is in my case
I suspect.
I've never seen a bad gauge. Often an idiot light sensor or
glow plug sensor will get connected to the gauge wire. Seems
like they use the same sensor for the gp and gauge anymore
but I do remember seeing a difference. May have been with
an idiot light sensor though.
A bad voltage stabilizer can mess with your temp gauge too. It'll
do the same for the fuel gauge but you don't tend to notice as
easily until you run out of fuel when the gauge still shows or
you fill up and it only shows about 3/4 full suddenly.
