[Vwdiesel] Fwd: Temp guage

Terry the gauge may come back on. On my Quantum the gauge sometimes doesn't
come on when I start the car. Driving along and it may start up or it may
not. IIRC turning off the ignition sometimes helps. The frequency varies
from once every couple of months to once a week. Right now it had been
several months since the last failure. That one was a little disconcerting
because I was travelling down the motorway at speed 85 ish and it suddenly
as I watched it began to drop from a little above normal to zero. For a
split lifetime [second in reality] I thought it was a total loss of coolant
but then I remembered the fault. Although in a heatwave the way t o check
everything normal is to open the hot air vents. ... Normal hot air so I
relaxed and carried on driving. I guess in reality coolant loss will
redline the gauge and not let it drop down. What I need, is to be calm when
I panic :o)

I must investigate the fault as I 've seen the same fault on other vw's.
There is a mini computer there somewhere isn't there?

Regards
Mark
