Degraded performance from low oil pressure is only during that
few minutes, when the pistons or bearings are expanding from
heat, and right before they gall and seize! :-o
Yes, you need to put a gauge on the engine, check your pressure
cold. Warm it up and check it hot. Check idle and at ~2000rpm.
Your pressure could be low, a sender could be bad, or the warning
unit in the speedo could be bad however it seems like most of those
"failures" from the past COULD be misdiagnosis.
Low oil pressure is most likely from failing intermediate shaft
bearings. Engine has to come out to replace. A worn or spun
rod or main bearing could do it if it's been neglected along the
line.
Sending or control units would have to be replaced. Since the
buzzer does sound, the W terminal wire seems to be working (for
rpm signal.)
