[Vwdiesel] 81 Head Bolts

Hi Rudy;
	The three bolt setups for older diesels that I have seen are 11 mm
non stretch on the 1.5 blocks. 11mm non stretch bolts on the early 1981 1.6
blocks and the 12mm stretch bolts on the later 1.6 blocks. My old VW
mechanic rebuilt over 500 diesels both 1.5 and 1.6. On diesel blocks that
used the 11mm non stretch bolts he used VW Rabbit gas 11 mm stretch bolts
and says they were less prone to blowing head gaskets than the 11mm non
stretch bolts. I believe it is well worth while to pay the tic and Buy
Race-Ware head studs. They are expensive but they are reusable. You can save
a buck or two by reusing your old stretch bolts but don't cry when you blow
a head gasket 1000 miles from home.

I thought that but the Bolts are also a little different.  Never seen the
combination before.  I'm wondering if they are stretch bolt how bad it would
be to reuse them.

Washers are 9/16th thick?  Maybe aftermarket?
