I would be really interested to know if the 300 series Power Wagon (1 ton) ever came with the Perkins.  That would be quite a find.  If the 354 was in a 500/600, it should have an SAE bellhousing, which means any of the later transmissions with that pattern (SAE#1, SAE#2 or SAE#3) will bolt right up, including later Eaton/Fuller gearboxes.  Another option for trannies is the Japanese medium duties, that tend to have SAE2 or 3 patterns (most Class 8 over here is #1).  However, in a light truck, there is seldom if ever room for an SAE bellhousing in the tunnel (but raising the body over the frame CAN make them fit).
